Hemofarm Presented the Sustainability Report for 2020
Hemofarm Presented the Sustainability Report for 2020
29. September 2021.
BUSINESS RESPONSIBILITY, SAFEGUARDS HEALTH IN PRACTICE
Belgrade, September 29, 2021 – In the year when the survival of humankind was put to the test, Hemofarm persisted in its sustainable development efforts –
it preserved the health and defended trust by practicing responsible attitude towards resources and environment.
During the pandemic year 2020 and with the utmost commitment of 3,800 employees and four-shift operation, the company managed to achieve the record-breaking output and provide for the safe supply of all markets where Stada operates with the high-quality medicinal products, this is the summary of the just published Hemofarm’s Sustainability Report for 2020.
The latest report titled ’Life Wins with Us’ has been designed as a part of the triptych 2019-2021 with the aim to illustrate the trend of all parameters of business operations and sustainability of the company amidst, during and after the pandemic. This time processed cotton paper was used by Hemofarm for printing its new report, emphasizing thus the significance of recycling, reuse of raw materials and circular economy.
’Apart from the fight for people’s health, the Covid-19 pandemic showed that caring about how much of an impact you leave on society and the environment in which you live is one of the most important contributions to public health. When it comes to Hemofarm's business in the peak pandemic year, we have continued to move up the path of sustainability. Out of the 6.5 billion tablets and other forms we have produced, as many as 83 percent have been packed in recycled cardboard packaging material. We launched 17 new brands, and the successful acquisitions carried out by Stada meant the integration of new products and portfolio expansion for us. Most importantly, Hemofarm has successfully defended the health of society. We have shown by personal example what responsible business means in times of crisis, and sustainable development is important because it, above all, means responsibility towards employees, society and the community’, said
dr Ronald Seeliger, CEO of Hemofarm.
According to the Resident Coordinator of UN in Serbia, her Excellency Francoise Jacob, sustainable development, fighting climate change and inequalities for a better life for all, is a shared responsibility between the state, the citizens, the private sector, the municipalities. ’This report is a call to action for the entire private sector to adopt universal principles and standards of sustainable development, on human rights, labour rights, environmental rights, and anticorruption. The transformation of our economic model towards sustainability cannot happen without the full contribution of the private sector, including banking, insurance, construction sectors. The UN is committed to support Serbia in this pathway to a prosperous future – fostering innovation and sharing best practices, unlocking business value and new opportunities, building business resilience, and enabling long-term sustainable growth and well-being. I hope large and small companies will take more ambitious and comprehensive action across their operations and value chains, while building new missions for their teams and employees, and setting goals in line with international standards and national ambitions’, said H.E. Jacob at the presentation of Hemofarm’s new Sustainability Report.
Hemofarm celebrated its 60th jubilee anniversary with the slogan ’Life Wins with Us’ and special thanks was extended on that occasion to colleagues from production who represent ’silent heroes’ of the pandemic. Together with health professionals and pharmacists, they were the first line of defence from the pandemic and Hemofarm supported their responsible mission also through donation of medical equipment to healthcare institutions in regions it operates in (Serbia, B&H and Montenegro).
Additional indicators of Hemofarm’s operations in 2020:
