15 years of sustainability: Hemofarm raises the bar in ESG reporting

Hemofarm’s new Sustainability Report has been prepared for the first time in accordance with the European ESRS standards and the principles of the CSRD Directive. Fifteen years of continuous reporting confirm that for Hemofarm, sustainability is not a trend, but an integral part of its business operations

Hemofarm has published its fifteenth Sustainability Report, marking 15 years of continuous and transparent reporting on the company’s impact on the economy, society, and the environment. This year’s report also brings an important step forward – for the first time, it has been prepared in line with the European ESRS standards and the principles of the CSRD Directive, further aligning Hemofarm’s long-standing sustainability experience with new European requirements and practices.

The shift from the previous GRI framework to ESRS represents much more than a mere change in methodology. The application of the double materiality concept allows the company to simultaneously assess how ESG issues affect its operations, as well as what impact its operations have on people, society, and the environment. In this way, sustainability becomes even more strongly embedded in business decision-making, risk management, and the company’s long-term development.

The results from 2025 also illustrate the scale of responsibility that such a way of doing business entails. The Hemofarm Group produced 303 million packs of medicines, or 7.9 billion finished units, within a portfolio of 474 products, while the company employs 4,495 people. Over the course of the year, 10,457 training sessions were delivered in the areas of occupational health and safety, environmental protection, fire safety, and compliance, accompanied by continuous investments in an even safer working environment at production sites in Vršac, Šabac, and Dubovac.

The knowledge and experience that Hemofarm has built in the area of sustainability over the past 15 years has also contributed to the development of the ESG approach at the level of its parent company, the STADA Group. Today, the global framework covers seven key areas – decarbonization and climate change, sustainable production and packaging, access to medicines and health promotion, employee safety, responsible sourcing, and ethical business conduct– while Hemofarm links these priorities to the specific needs of patients, employees, the healthcare system, and local communities.

The fifteenth report thus represents more than a review of the results of a single business year. It reflects the evolution of sustainability at Hemofarm – from voluntary reporting to ESG principles embedded in the way the company operates, makes decisions, and creates long-term value.
