Moustached Fellows are Telling You to Schedule a Checkup!
13. November 2025.
As part of the Movember global movement, Hemofarm employees in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina traditionally demonstrate solidarity by growing beard and moustache as a token of support for men’s health. The goal of this initiative is raising awareness on the importance of prevention and regular medical checkups, emphasising that visiting your doctor should not be a source of shame or stigma.

Hemofarm’s Moustached Fellows point out that visiting your doctor should be an integral part of care for health and invite men not to wait until November to make an appointment for a preventive medical checkup but that they can do so throughout the entire year.

Pay attention!

Men should pay attention to symptoms that may be indicative of certain health problems. If you notice a frequent need to urinate, blood in the urine, pain in the lower back, painless and gradual enlargement of the testicles, a hard lump within the testicles, or erectile dysfunction, it is necessary to consult a urologist. Although erectile dysfunction is often not regarded as a serious health issue, research suggests a certain connection between erectile dysfunction and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, it is crucial to recognise this problem, seek medical attention promptly, and prevent more serious health challenges.

Diseases of the urogenital system most commonly occur at certain stages of life. Expert recommendations suggest that men should begin regular examinations of the testicles and skin as early as their 20s to enable the early detection of potential problems. In their 30s, in addition to testicular examinations, it is important to include detailed urine tests and colon screenings. After the age of 40, prostate examinations should also be added to the routine.

In addition to physical health, mental health is equally important. Men often keep their feelings to themselves, believing that seeking help is a sign of weakness. However, if men feel constantly tired, dissatisfied, or experience a sense of loneliness, it is essential to seek professional support. Mental health is crucial for overall quality of life, and open communication about these issues can bring significant positive changes.

There is data suggesting that, due to feelings of shame, a significant percentage of men search the internet for important health information. It is important for men to seek relevant information from professionals and to adopt an open approach to their health. Health should not be a taboo topic, as the most expensive checkup is the one that is missed.

With diseases such as prostate and testicular cancer on the rise, prevention and early diagnosis are key to reducing risks. Building habits that enable men to take care of their physical and mental health throughout the year is essential. A checkup is not just a visit to the doctor; it is a way of taking care of yourself and those who love you.

Hemofarm's Moustached Fellows invite you to schedule and undergo preventive checkups at your nearest healthcare facility. Visiting your doctor is key to prevention and maintaining good health and the time devoted to health is the best investment in your future.
