The month of March in our region is mostly the month of flowers, candies and various gifts. But there is something that every woman, at any time of the year, should give to herself as a gift, and that is a preventive examination. However, the everyday obligations that most women have often make them forget about the essential thing, which is to take care of their health. And that's why this March, Hemofarm presents advice from gynecologists, endocrinologists and general practitioners for improvement of women's health.

„A visit to the gynecologist at least once a year prevents the development of gynecological diseases, and thus preserves women's reproductive health. As a rule, once a year every woman should do an ultrasound examination of the small pelvis and a Pap test, and if the previous findings showed abnormalities or were borderline in terms of the beginning of a process, then even more often, that is, two to three times a year“, says Mirjana Ostojić, MD specialist in gynecology and obstetrics.

The thyroid gland not only helps the body stay in balance, but also warns it when it needs to slow down and relax. That is why it is necessary to regularly do laboratory tests with an emphasis on thyroid hormones.



„Go for the check-ups of the thyroid gland, do a hormone analysis that will be reviewed by a specialist doctor and do an ultrasound. Regular check-ups are very important, because early diagnosis is key to balance and recovery. If the thyroid gland is not working properly for a long time, it will be more difficult to treat it, so react to every signal it sends you. It is very important to understand your own responsibility for your health and that you can influence it. Spend time with people who have positive impact on you, eat a varied and balanced diet, because the body remembers. Include some physical activity in your daily routine and sleep for at least seven hours“, points out Sonja Zarač Bobić, MD specialist in nuclear medicine.

According to the recommendations of the World Health Organization, wellness exams should be performed on a regular basis, once a year. This type of complete examinations allows the insight into the state of the body, and they are extremely important because they enable timely detection of health problems or diseases.

„The wellness exams include several different specialist examinations and laboratory tests of blood and urine that show whether there are certain problems in the body or risks for the onset of disease. Many diseases develop over time, not showing very clear symptoms at the beginning of the disease, however, the first changes could be noticed precisely during a wellness exam. It is significant that regular preventive examinations provide the opportunity for timely treatment, including malignant diseases. Modern diagnostics and therapy offer many opportunities, but most often only through early detection and treatment, cures are achieved as the desired result of all our efforts to preserve health and quality of life", says Suzana Savić, general practitioner from Hemofarm.

Make an appointment for your wellness exam, perform the self-examination of breast as frequent as possible, mammography every two years after the age of 40, and breast ultrasound at least once a year.
