Hemofarm celebrates 61st birthday
01. June 2021.
Hemofarm company, the leader in the pharmaceutical market and one of the largest exporters in Serbia, marked 61 years of successful business operations and on that occasion announced this year's plans to invest as much as 40 million euros in plants, new equipment and implementation of the latest standards in pharma industry.

Since 2006, Hemofarm has been a part of STADA Group, one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Europe, which has so far invested about 300 million euros in the modernization of its plants, equipment and new facilities. By new investments of 40 million euros in this year, STADA and Hemofarm confirm that they one of the largest and most consistent investors in the region, and a significant business partner that brings the latest technology, the highest standards and good business practice.

This year’s plan is to invest in business operations of Hemofarm in Serbia (plants in Vršac and Šabac) amounting to approximately 28 million euros, in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Hemofarm Banjaluka) almost 10 million, while investment in further advancement of business operations of the company in Montenegro (Hemomont in Podgorica) will amount to EUR 1.5 million. The investment support is also planned for purchasing new equipment for laboratory in Timisoara, which operates within Hemofarm group and deals with certification of medicines exported to the EU countries.

According to the CEO of Hemofarm Dr. Ronald Seeliger, this company is growing thanks to constant investments assumed as a business model: ’Hemofarm is great because it produces medicines for the whole world, but it grew exactly owing to regular investments, constant innovations in production and continuous investment in people and processes. The fact that we are a part of ONE STADA, which strongly enters the field of innovation in all segments of pharmaceutical development, is the reason for our success. In return, we hold a leading market position, achieve a record-breaking production in accordance to sustainable development principles, and provide maximum quantities of high-quality medicines available in pharmacies on three continents. Our importance as a partner to Serbia and neighbouring countries is well illustrated by the situation from last year, at the peak of the pandemic, when we have proven in practice what caring for people’s health means by 24/7 production, regular supply of the market and medicines available to our patients at any moment’.

Voluntary blood donation of Hemofarm employees

Due to the current shortage of blood, and in cooperation with the Blood Transfusion Institute of Vojvodina, on the company's birthday, Hemofarm employees donated blood in a transfusion bus parked in front of the entrance to the Vršac factory. The section of voluntary blood donors in Hemofarm is very active, and employees donate blood on regular basis.

This is just one of the activities of the company and its employees with the goal to help the healthcare system and society. The Hemofarm Foundation’s national campaign ‘Unbreakable’ for the preservation of mental health is currently underway, and it provides professional support of psychologists and psychiatrists through a free SOS phone number 0800 001 002.
