The German Ambassador to Serbia visited Hemofarm’s plant in Šabac

’Hemofarm is one of the largest German investments in Serbia and a good example of successful cooperation between a company and city administration. Hemofarm employs 2600 people in Serbia and contribute to the economic growth in Vršac and Šabac. I support close and partnership cooperation between Hemofarm and city of Šabac, it is crucial in efforts invested to make Šabac even more attractive place to invest in’, said the German Ambassador to Serbia Axel Dittmann.

Accompanied by the Mayor of Šabac, Nebojša Zelenović and management of Hemofarm, the Ambassador made a tour of the manufacturing plant which produces over 55 million packs of medicines a year for the markets of 38 world countries. The visit of the Ambassador Dittmann is a symbolic beginning of marking the decade of Hemofarm’s operations within the STADA Group. Since Hemofarm has been taken over by this German company in 2006 to present days, more than 200 million euros was invested in modernization of equipment and production but also in the training of workers and a path to numerous world markets has thus been opened.

Pharmaceutical factory from Šabac is specialized in production of non-sterile pharmaceutical products, syrups, capsules and tablets. Thanks to highly-educated and trained professionals, as well as state-of-the-art technological equipment, it produces highly complex forms of medicines.

’Production scope has been growing in the recent years and we are expanding our portfolio with new products. By the end of the year we will round up the annual investment plan worth EUR 4.5 million. We also pay attention to the segment of sustainable development. Last year we put the waste water treatment facility worth EUR 1.2 million into operation. And according to the assessment of the relevant institution within the World Bank, Hemofarm belongs to 20 percent of the best factories in the world when energy efficiency is concerned. The steps that brought us to this list has actually been made here, locally’, said Dragan Tošić, Director of Hemofarm Šabac factory.

The Mayor of Šabac, Nebojša Zelenović stressed out that the city was very proud of the fact that successful companies from Germany were located in his city and that such experiences were precious.

’We will do our best to enable the arrival of new investors from Germany and establishment of partnership between German and Šabac companies capable of operating according to strict criteria of German companies. Today, we have presented to the German Ambassador the layout of Savapark and construction plan of the biomass heating facility’, said the mayor after the talks with the Ambassador.

Hemofarm employs 357 people in Šabac and they work in the plant manufacturing solid, semi-solid and liquid dosage forms, as well as in the state-of-the-art plant manufacturing disinfectants and medical solutions. The factory meets the strictest global standards in production and supply of the European market and holds numerous certificates of the most respectable inspection authorities of the European countries.
